The huge matchup between Georgia and Tennessee is already getting feisty with trash talk from former Tennessee QB Erik Ainge stirring the pot.

On Saturday, the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs and No. 1 Tennessee Volunteers will battle it out for who will sit atop the standings when the second edition of the College Football Rankings come out.

Fans have been gearing up for this one for weeks so, of course, the trash talk has been spicy.

Former Vols quarterback Erik Ainge created a splash when he tweeted about Sanford Stadium being inferior to the atmosphere at Neyland.

Ex-Tennessee players are talking down on Georgia’s atmosphere

Playing between the hedges is overrated. Not that loud and definitely not intimidating. It’s nothing like playing in Neyland. Vols will be just fine in Athens!

“Playing between the hedges is overrated. Not that loud and definitely not intimidating. It’s nothing like playing in Neyland. Vols will be just fine in Athens!” Ainge wrote.

A few former Tennessee players backed Ainge up.

Naturally, Georgia fans were not pleased with that claim and went at Ainge immediately.

One even went on a hilarious rant on Ainge’s radio show.

Ainge is going to have to hope his Volunteers back up his words by neutralizing the atmosphere on Saturday. He’s going to have to eat the crow for it.

If the Vols lose…and Sanford is as loud as people are saying it’s going to be…I will tweet a UGA fan apology tweet. Gotta be loud and gotta play the game first. I’ll own it if we lose! 🤘

This game is easily the biggest one of the season for both sides. It should be pretty raucous. But Georgia fans will have a hard time matching the atmosphere Tennessee produced when they hosted Alabama and pulled off their epic victory. That’s not to say they couldn’t. The challenge has been laid.
