The Last Of Us Remake Looks Very Similar To The Last Of Us Part 2

The Last Of Us Remake Looks Very Similar To The Last Of Us Part 2

Naughty Dog announced a remake of The Last of Us during the Summer Game Fest Live last week, and a new report has detailed many of the changes this small glimpse shows off.

Digital Foundry has lined up many of the shots in the new trailer to the ones they’re recreating in The Last of Us Remastered on PS4, showcasing many of the areas where this remake is improving visual details. The most obvious is in the scene complexity and density, with the PS5 remake showing off areas that, while identical in layout, feature higher levels of geometry and foliage to make them look a lot more detailed that those in the remaster.

Another interesting facet picked up on is character animation, which seems to have been reworked to include more subtle details. Digital Foundry points out instances with Ellie’s eyes that show off a more refined pass on animations as she watches buildings go by, as well as another example where her body language seems a lot more natural during an argument with Joel. Dialogue animation also looks to be a lot smoother and more detailed in the remake, too.

Interestingly, this footage also offered a chance to compare this remake with The Last of Us Part II, which launched at the tail-end of the PS4 era and showcases some of Naughty Dog’s latest technology. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the shot of the Firefly hospital from both Part II and this latest remake almost look identical, along with very similar looking character models shared between both games. It suggests heavily that this remake is using the same techniques found in that of The Last of Us Part II, which Digital Foundry suggests is a smart way for the studio to get experience with PlayStation 5 as it plans for future projects.

The Last of Us Part I launches exclusively on PlayStation 5 on September 2 for $70. A release on PC is planned for a later, unspecified date. Naughty Dog is also working on a standalone game based on The Last of Us’ Factions multiplayer mode.

‘Topdog/Underdog’ Returning To Broadway With Corey Hawkins & Yahya Abdul-Mateen II

‘Topdog/Underdog’ Returning To Broadway With Corey Hawkins & Yahya Abdul-Mateen II

Suzan-Lori Parks’ Topdog/Underdog, winner of the 2002 Pulitzer Prize, will return to Broadway this fall in a 20th anniversary production directed by Kenny Leon and starring In the HeightsCorey Hawkins and Watchmen‘s Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.

The strictly limited 16-week engagement will begin previews on Tuesday, September 27, at Broadway’s John Golden Theatre. The production officially will open on Thursday, October 20.

Tickets are set to go on sale Monday, June 20, Juneteenth National Independence Day.

The production is being produced by David Stone, LaChanze, Rashad V. Chambers, Marc Platt, Debra Martin Chase, and the Shubert Organization.

Hawkins and Abdul-Mateen II will play brothers Lincoln and Booth, respectively, in Parks’ “darkly comic fable of brotherly love and family identity.” Topdog/Underdog tells the story of the two brothers Lincoln and Booth — named as a joke by their father — who are haunted by the past and their obsession with three-card monte, the street con game.

“I’m so blessed that Topdog is back on Broadway,” said Parks in a statement. “What a beautiful opportunity to share this work with new audiences. And, wow, how many writers get to be here for a Broadway revival of their work? I’m grateful and thrilled. And doing the show with Kenny, Yahya and Corey — that’s icing on the gravy, baby!”

The production will feature scenic design by Arnulfo Maldonado, costume design by Dede Ayite, lighting design by Allen Lee Hughes and sound design by Justin Ellington.

Parks is the first Black woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. In 2018, Topdog/Underdog was named “The Greatest American Play of the Past 25 Years” by The New York Times.

Hawkins, a Tony nominee for his 2017 performance in John Guare’s Six Degrees of Separation, made his Broadway debut as Tybalt in David Leveaux’s revival of Romeo and Juliet opposite Orlando Bloom and Condola Rashad. He recently portrayed Macduff in Joel Coen’s The Tragedy of Macbeth, opposite Denzel Washington, Frances McDormand, and Brendan Gleeson, and also starred as Benny in Jon M. Chu’s feature film adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Tony Award-winning musical In The Heights. Other film credits include Straight Outta Compton, 6 Underground, Georgetown and BlacKkKlansman.

Abdul-Mateen is best known for his Emmy-winning performance as Cal Abar/Dr. Manhattan in HBO’s Watchmen. He recently starred in Michael Bay‘s Ambulance, opposite Jake Gyllenhaal; The Matrix Resurrections; and Candyman. Next up he will be reprising his role as Black Manta in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

Corey Hawkins, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II to Star in Broadway Revival of Suzan-Lori Parks’ ‘Topdog/Underdog’

Topdog/Underdog” will return to Broadway this fall with Corey Hawkins and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II appearing in the two lead roles.

The revival is timed to the 20th anniversary of Suzan-Lori Parks’ play, which won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama when it debuted. Kenny Leon, the Tony Award-winning director of the 2014 revival of “A Raisin in the Sun” and 2020’s “A Soldier’s Story,” will direct “Topdog/Underdog.”

The strictly limited, 16-week engagement will begin previews on Sept. 27 at the John Golden Theatre and will officially open on Oct. 20. The production is being produced by David Stone, LaChanze, Rashad V. Chambers, Marc Platt, Debra Martin Chase and the Shubert Organization.

The play is a fable, alternately hilarious and moving, and examines the idea of family identity and the ties that bind. It tells the story of two brothers, Lincoln (Hawkins) and Booth (Abdul-Mateen II), names given to them as a joke by their father. Haunted by the past and their obsession with the street con game, three-card Monte, the brothers come to learn the true nature of their history.

Hawkins and Abdul-Mateen II will assume roles that were played to great acclaim by Don Cheadle and Jeffrey Wright in the Off-Broadway production, and later by Wright and Mos Def when the show transferred to Broadway.

“I’m so blessed that ‘Topdog’ is back on Broadway! What a beautiful opportunity to share this work with new audiences. And, wow, how many writers get to be here for a Broadway revival of their work? I’m grateful and thrilled,” said Parks. “And doing the show with Kenny, Yahya and Corey — that’s icing on the gravy, baby!”

Parks was the first Black woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Her other work includes “Father Comes Home From the Wars” parts one, two and three, and “The Red Letter Plays.”

Hawkins was a Tony Award nominee for his 2017 performance in John Guare’s “Six Degrees of Separation.” He made his Broadway debut as Tybalt in David Leveaux’s revival of “Romeo and Juliet” starring Orlando Bloom and Condola Rashad. Recently, Hawkins appeared in Joel Coen’s movie “The Tragedy of Macbeth” opposite Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand, and appeared in Jon M. Chu’s feature film adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “In the Heights.” He is perhaps best known for portraying Dr. Dre in the 2015 film “Straight Outta Compton.”

Abdul-Mateen II won an Emmy Award for his role in HBO’s “Watchmen,” and recently starred in Michael Bay’s “Ambulance” opposite Jake Gyllenhaal and in “The Matrix Resurrections.” Other films include “Candyman” and his performance as Black Manta in “Aquaman” — a role he’ll reprise in the movie’s upcoming sequel.

FHFA watchdog has a plan for the next 4 years

FHFA watchdog has a plan for the next 4 years

The watchdog tasked with oversight of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) laid out its strategic priorities for the next four years.

Federal Housing Finance Agency Office of Inspector General will carry out oversight to make sure FHFA ensures the safety and soundness of the entities it regulates and is an effective conservator of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. It will also deter and detect fraud, waste and abuse, and increase the “integrity awareness” of FHFA employees, which it said it will accomplish, in part, by disseminating a brochure to them.

The inspector general also wants to improve the feedback loop between FHFA leadership, Congress and other stakeholders, and recruit a “diverse, highly skilled, high performing, inclusive workforce.”

In the three months since the Senate confirmed Brian Tomney as inspector general, the office he leads has announced a number of investigations, including into FHFA’s public accountability and how its regulated entities follow up on tenant protections.

Three days after Tomney assumed his role, the watchdog found FHFA fell short of its goal of “public transparency” because its 2020 report to Congress was much lighter on details of the Enterprises’ progress toward scorecard goals than the previous year. Although that is a shortcoming pertaining to the previous administration, current FHFA leadership has not established an alternative reporting procedure. In March, the inspector general said FHFA had promised to develop reporting plans but had not yet made a determination on whether to resume publishing scorecard progress reports.

Also in March, the inspector general assessed how Freddie Mac monitors compliance with tenant protections that the CARES Act and Freddie Mac’s own programs require. It found the GSE does not monitor for those protections, and Freddie Mac and FHFA both said Freddie Mac does not have the authority or ability to directly enforce those protections.

Biden administration recommends proactive cybersecurity measures

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the Biden Administration have issued a “Shields Up” warning to U.S. businesses regarding the increased threat of cyberattacks related to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine earlier this year.

Presented by: FundingShield

In November, in its 2022 annual plan , the inspector general said it would audit FHFA’s initiatives in response to Biden’s 2021 racial equity edict, and whether the initiatives were achieving their purpose. The previous inspector general, Phyllis Fong, who was acting inspector general from the end of July 2021 to March, proposed that investigation.

Tomney, who led internal investigations at Capital One prior to taking the FHFA watchdog job, pledged at the time to not be a “paper tiger.” The previous Senate-confirmed FHFA inspector general, Laura Wertheimer, resigned after she was investigated for abusing her authority.

While an inspector general can issue recommendations and public reports and investigate whistleblower complaints, it does not have the power to compel the agency it oversees to take actions.

The inspector general made that point in a foreword to the nearly 50 recommendations it issued, going back as far as 2013, which, as of June 1, it closed without FHFA taking any action.

Price analysis 6/13: BTC, ETH, BNB, ADA, XRP, SOL, DOGE, DOT, LEO, AVAX

Price analysis 6/13: BTC, ETH, BNB, ADA, XRP, SOL, DOGE, DOT, LEO, AVAX

The United States equities markets extended their decline to start the week on June 13. The S&P 500 hit a new year-to-date low and dipped into bear market territory, falling more than 20% from its all-time high made on Jan. 4.

The cryptocurrency markets are tracking the equities markets lower and the selling pressure further intensified due to the rumored liquidity crisis of major lending platform Celsius and traders possibly selling positions to meet margin calls. This pulled the total crypto market capitalization below $1 trillion.

Daily cryptocurrency market performance. Source: Coin360

The sharp declines have led some analysts to project extremely bearish targets. While anything is possible in the markets and it is difficult to call a bottom, capitulations usually tend to start a bottoming formation. Traders may get their buy list ready and consider accumulating in phases after the price stops falling.

What are the important levels that may arrest the decline in Bitcoin (BTC) and major altcoins? Let’s study the charts of the top-10 cryptocurrencies to find out.

BTC/USDT

Bitcoin broke below the immediate support at $28,630 on June 11. This accelerated selling and the bears pulled the price below the critical support at $26,700 on June 12. This indicated the resumption of the downtrend.

BTC/USDT daily chart. Source: TradingView

The bears maintained their selling pressure on June 13 and sent the BTC/USDT pair tumbling to an intraday low of $22,600. The sharp fall of the past few days has pulled the relative strength index (RSI) into the oversold zone. This suggests that a relief rally or consolidation is likely in the next few days.

Any recovery is likely to face selling in the zone between $26,700 and $28,630. If bears flip this zone into resistance, it will suggest that sentiment remains negative. Traders could then make one more attempt to resume the downtrend. A break below $22,600 could sink the pair to the psychological level at $20,000.

The bulls will have to push and sustain the price above $28,630 to suggest that the bears may be losing their grip.

ETH/USDT

Ether (ETH) plummeted below the vital support of $1,700 on June 10, indicating that bears are in control. This signaled the start of the next leg of the downtrend.

ETH/USDT daily chart. Source: TradingView

The selling picked up momentum on June 11 and bears have pulled the price below the strong support at $1,300. This suggests that traders are gripped with fear and are dumping their positions.

The aggressive selling of the past three days has pulled the RSI below 22. Historically, the ETH/USDT pair starts a relief rally when the RSI falls close to 21. This suggests that the pair could attempt a rally to the breakdown level of $1,700.

Alternatively, if bears sustain their selling pressure, the pair could drop to psychological support at $1,000.

BNB/USDT

The failure of the bulls to push BNB back into the triangle may have attracted strong selling by the bears on June 11. The selling picked up momentum and the price has dropped near the strong support at $211.

BNB/USDT daily chart. Source: TradingView

If the price rebounds off $211, it will suggest accumulation at lower levels. The buyers will then make an attempt to push the price above the 20-day exponential moving average ($289). If they succeed, it will indicate that the BNB/USDT pair may remain range-bound between $211 and $350 for a few days.

Conversely, if bears sink the price below $211, it will signal the start of the next leg of the downtrend. The psychological level of $200 may offer a minor support but if the level gives way, the next support could be at $186.

ADA/USDT

Cardano (ADA) broke below the 20-day EMA ($0.56) on June 10 and attempts by the bulls to push the price back above the level on June 11 met with strong selling at higher levels.

ADA/USDT daily chart. Source: TradingView

The bears have pulled the price to the strong support zone between $0.44 and $0.40. This zone is likely to attract strong buying by the bulls because a break below it could signal the resumption of the downtrend. The ADA/USDT pair could then start its southward journey toward the next major support at $0.30.

Alternatively, if the price rises from the current level, the bulls will attempt to push the pair above the 50-day simple moving average (SMA($0.61). If that happens, the pair may consolidate between $0.74 and $0.40 for a few days.

XRP/USDT

Ripple (XRP) broke and closed below the support at $0.38 on June 11. This completed a bearish descending triangle pattern, signaling that sellers have the upper hand.

XRP/USDT daily chart. Source: TradingView

The selling picked up momentum and bears pulled the price below the crucial support at $0.33 on June 13. This indicates the start of the next leg of the downtrend. The short-term bears may book profits near the pattern target of $0.30.

If they do that, the XRP/USDT pair could start a relief rally that may reach the breakdown level of $0.33 and then $0.38. Alternatively, if bears sink the price below $0.30, the pair could drop to the next strong support at $0.24.

SOL/USDT

Solana (SOL) had been stuck between the 20-day EMA ($40) and $35 for a few days. This uncertainty resolved to the downside on June 11 as bears pulled the price below the support.

SOL/USDT daily chart. Source: TradingView

This accelerated the selling and the bears pulled the price below the immediate support at $30. The next support on the downside is $22 and later $20.

The sharp selling of the past few days has sent the RSI into the oversold territory. This suggests a relief rally or consolidation is likely in the near term. The bulls will attempt to push the price above the breakdown level of $35 and the 20-day EMA. If they succeed, it will suggest that the current breakdown may have been a bear trap.

DOGE/USDT

Dogecoin’s (DOGE) tight range trading expanded to the downside on June 10. The bears pulled the price below the May 12 intraday low of $0.07 on June 11, indicating the resumption of the downtrend.

DOGE/USDT daily chart. Source: TradingView

The selling further picked up momentum and the bears pulled the DOGE/USDT pair to the psychological support of $0.05. This level could act as a short-term support because the deeply oversold levels on the RSI suggest a relief rally is possible.

On the upside, the bears will attempt to stall the recovery at the breakdown level of $0.07. If the price turns down from this resistance, the bears will attempt to resume the downtrend and sink the pair to $0.04. The first sign of strength will be a break and close above the 20-day EMA ($0.08).

DOT/USDT

The failure of the bulls to push Polkadot (DOT) back into the symmetrical triangle attracted aggressive selling by the bears on June 10. That started a downward move that pulled the price below the critical support of $7.30.

DOT/USDT daily chart. Source: TradingView

The bulls are attempting to push the price back above the breakdown level of $7.30. If they manage to do that, it will suggest that the break below $7.30 may have been a bear trap. The DOT/USDT pair could then rise to the 20-day EMA ($9.17).

Alternatively, if the price fails to rise above $7.30, it will suggest that the bears have flipped the level into resistance. That could resume the downtrend with the next stop being the psychological level of $5 and then the pattern target of $4.23.

LEO/USD

UNUS SED LEO (LEO) has been trading inside a descending channel for the past several weeks. The bears are posing a challenge near $5.60 but are finding it difficult to pull the price below the 20-day EMA ($5.24).

LEO/USD daily chart. Source: TradingView

If the price bounces off the current level and rises above $5.60, the LEO/USD pair could gradually move up to the resistance line of the channel. The bears are likely to defend this level aggressively.

If the price turns down from the resistance line, the bears will attempt to sink the pair below the 20-day EMA. If that happens, the pair may gradually dip toward the support line. Such a move will suggest that the pair may extend its stay inside the channel for some more time.

The next trending move could begin after the bulls push the price above the resistance line or bears sink the pair below the support line.

AVAX/USDT

Avalanche’s (AVAX) tight range trading between the 20-day EMA ($24) and the critical support of $21 resolved to the downside on June 11. This indicated the resumption of the downtrend.

AVAX/USDT daily chart. Source: TradingView

The selling picked up momentum and sliced through the support at $18 on June 12. There is a minor support at $15 but if this level breaks down, the AVAX/USDT pair could plummet to the next strong support of $13.

Although the downsloping moving averages indicate advantage to sellers, the oversold levels on the RSI suggest that the selling may have been overdone in the near term. That could result in a relief rally to the breakdown level of $21. The bulls will have to push the price above the 20-day EMA to indicate that the bears may be losing their grip.

On Saturday, former NBA player, Delonte West, was spotted on a street corner in Alexandria, VA asking for money.

In the video, the man recording can be heard saying:

My dog, Delonte. How you doing my brother?

West proceeds to walk up with a sign in his hand, appearing disheveled and replies asking for money.

What’s going on? You ain’t got a few dollars?

A few people on social media shared their thoughts about West and the video.

One person stated:

It’s sad because people don’t understand that with addiction you can’t help them unless they want to be helped. Stop asking [where] people who were helping went. They tried…it’s only so much you can do with an addict.

Someone else commented and stated how sad it was to see the former athlete in this position he’s in now.

DAMN! This is one of the saddest things I [have] ever seen. Dear God, have mercy.

Another social media user stated:

I thought he was doing good.

Back in 2020, Delonte West received helped from Mark Cuban, Mavericks owner, and checked into rehab, according to TMZ.

Delonte West … he entered a rehab facility late Monday night, Mark Cuban tells us — and by Tuesday morning, he already started his programs at the facility. Once Mark Cuban located West, the Mavs owner met with Delonte’s mom at a nearby hotel and together they convinced him to get treatment, according to Shams Charania. Now, the hard work begins … and everyone close to West is hoping Delonte can finally get on the road to recovery.

That same year, it was reported that West was doing better and was hired to work at the rehab center where he received helped. Reporter Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium tweeted:

Update on Delonte West: West now has a job at the Rebound therapy center in Florida, which is the rehab facility he attended.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban reunited West with his mother in September and has stayed in close contact.

What does fresh dog food mean?

Fresh dog food is made with no preservatives or fillers and usually contains higher levels of protein and fat. Fresh dog food can be frozen or refrigerated and often has a shorter shelf life than kibble or canned food.

There are many brands that make fresh dog food, but not all are created equal. To help you choose the best food for your pup, we’ve compiled a list of the 20 best fresh dog foods for 2022.

The main benefit of feeding a dog fresh dog food is that it is nutritionally complete and contains no fillers or preservatives. Fresh dog food also has a shorter shelf life than kibble or canned food, so it’s important to rotate through different brands and flavors to ensure your pup is getting a variety of nutrients.

There are a few things to keep in mind when choosing fresh dog food. First, make sure the ingredients are high quality and sourced from reputable farmers and manufacturers.

Second, choose a food that is nutritionally complete and contains no fillers or preservatives. Finally, be sure to rotate through different brands and flavors to ensure your pup is getting a variety of nutrients.

Are fresh foods better for dogs?

There is no definitive answer to this question as it depends on the specific dog and his or her individual nutritional needs. However, fresh dog food is generally considered to be a healthier option than kibble or canned food, as it contains no preservatives or fillers.

Fresh dog food is also nutritionally complete, which means that it provides all of the nutrients a dog needs to stay healthy. For this reason, many dog owners choose to feed their pups fresh food as part of a balanced diet.

Is fresh dog food the same as raw?

No, fresh dog food is not the same as raw dog food. Raw dog food is made with uncooked meat and bones, which can be dangerous for dogs if not prepared correctly.

Fresh dog food is made with cooked meat and vegetables and does not contain any bones. This makes it a safer option for dogs, as there is no risk of them choking on bones or getting sick from bacteria.

What is the healthiest food to feed your dog?

There are a lot of opinions out there about the best way to feed your dog. Some people believe that the healthiest way to feed your dog is to give them fresh food. Others believe that dry kibble is the way to go.

The truth is, there is no one right answer. The best way to feed your dog depends on a number of factors, including their age, health, and activity level.

Dogs, like humans, can suffer from a poor diet. A diet that is imbalanced in terms of carbohydrates and other macronutrients has the potential to cause diabetes, obesity, and cardiac problems in dogs.

A poor diet not only affects your dog’s health, but it gives him or her the same unappetizing and lethargic sensation as us humans get when consuming poorly. As a result, your dog may have low energy levels, causing them to eat more and start a cycle that makes your pet unhappy and ill.

What causes obesity in dogs?

There are many factors that can contribute to obesity in dogs, including overeating and lack of exercise. Genetics may also play a role, as some breeds are more prone to weight gain than others. Obesity can lead to a number of health problems, including joint pain, diabetes, and respiratory difficulties.

If you’re concerned that your dog is overweight, talk to your veterinarian. They can help you create a weight loss plan that’s right for your pet.

Can dogs survive only on dry food?

Dogs can technically survive on dry food alone, but it’s not ideal. Dry food is lacking in many of the nutrients that dogs need to stay healthy. It’s also low in moisture, which can lead to dehydration.

If you choose to feed your dog dry food, be sure to supplement their diet with fresh fruits and vegetables, and plenty of water.

What is the best food to feed a puppy?

The Last of Us multiplayer game will reportedly be “very, very live service-y”

The Last of Us Part 1

The recently announced Last of Us multiplayer game will reportedly lean heavily into the live service side of things.

In case you missed the initial announcement, Naughty Dog took the stage during Summer Game Fest yesterday to give a rather meaty update on The Last of Us’ upcoming standalone multiplayer game, previously referred to as Factions. It’s now being described as being on a similar scale to Naughty Dog’s biggest single-player games, with its own story, characters, and San Francisco setting.

“What started as a multiplayer mode has evolved due to the team’s ambition,” Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann said of the project. “They really wanted to do something beyond what we’ve ever done before at Naughty Dog, and we felt that the way to do it justice is to make it a standalone title. They’ve been working on it for the past two years, ambition has grown, and we’re not quite ready to fully unveil it, but we’re ready to lift the curtain a little bit and just give you an update of where we’re at.”

We now have some additional details per industry insider Jeff Grubb, who touched on The Last of Us multiplayer in a recent Giant Bomb stream (timestamped here (opens in new tab)). Apparently, the game will be “very, very live servicey,” but in a distinctly “Naughty Dog way.” Here’s what that might look like, according to Grubb:

“The reason it got delayed – the reason this isn’t just Factions – for one, they wanted to make it more ambitious; they wanted it to be its own thing. But then also they wanted to spend a lot of time building out the specific technology so they could do a live-service game in a Naughty Dog way, which means making it very easy for them to create new content and then just slot it in without you having to download a lot of stuff. They’re gonna make it very easy to keep it updated and add new content.”

It’s no surprise to hear The Last of Us multiplayer will be a live-service game considering how vocal Sony has been about moving into that territory, but it’s good to hear it should still feel like a Naughty Dog game. PlayStation has said it has two live-service games launching this fiscal year, but it’s unclear whether The Last of Us is one of them.

Here are all of the upcoming PS5 games we can’t wait to play.
